Coleman Creek Residence

Cape Meares, Oregon | 2012

Located within walking distance of the Pacific Ocean, this site is a second-generation mixed forest of Western Hemlock and Sitka Spruce situated above a small perennial stream. The particular natural qualities of the site inform the layout and spatial arrangement of the house and guest residence, with views back through the forest, overlooking the wetlands, and toward the water.

The design is arranged as a series of buildings with wind- and rain-sheltered transitional spaces joined by an oversailing roof, and is intended to provide indoor-outdoor flexibility of use and to accommodate the client’s changing needs over time.

In collaboration with her partners at Constructive Form, Kina assisted the owner with site infrastructure research and installation, schematic design and contract administration.
