Lacamas Creek Residences
Camas, Washington | 2010
This duplex infill development is located on a bluff at the convergence of Lacamas Creek and the Washougal River. The new building is positioned on the back half of the original lot, with an existing home to the north, and the site slopes down toward the water with views at the South.
The design provides a shared covered entry for two units, which are arranged as ‘flats’ on two levels opening to the south and east for light and views, while maintaining privacy from neighboring buildings. The project seeks to provide a broad range of experiential qualities within each dwelling, and within tight budget and site development constraints. The building has an enhanced level of insulation performance to reduce energy costs. High-efficiency mini-split heat pumps are used for heating and cooling, and air quality is maintained with heat recovery ventilation units and exhaust fans.
Kina provided design development, permitting services, and construction document support for this project.
